Do you ever have one of those afternoons where you can’t seem to get anything done? You know the feeling: your focus wavers, you have no motivation whatsoever, and the hours seem to zip by in minutes. It’s a dreary daze you just can’t escape.

That, my friends, is brain fog.

Today, we have a question from one of my YouTube followers, Kyle Martin. He wants to know how to cure brain fog, as well as his inflamed gut.

Kyle is onto something; although there’s no single cause of brain fog, there’s definitely a connection between brain fog and gut inflammation. Let’s dive into this.

The Brain Fog Cure

Sugar Sabotage

First, I’m going address candida because it’s pretty commonly associated with brain fog.

Candida is an overgrowth of yeast in your body, which in itself doesn’t sound too bad, but it can become very problematic. This infestation starts in the gut, can become systemic, and can eventually lead to all sorts of issues such as constipation, nail fungus and yes, brain fog.

So, how do you get rid of candida?

The reality is that candida loves sugar; pack your diet full of sugary items and candida sees it as a buffet! With every little bit of sugar you eat, you’re feeding that yeast, which is not a good thing.

If you want to get rid of the brain fog, you have to get rid of the sugar. Doing this will not only get rid of the sugar itself (which has a lot of health benefits) but it’s also going to help you eradicate the candida, which is really important not just for brain fog, but really for everything else.

Systemic candida overgrowth can have a terrible impact on your joints and your overall health, so you really should tackle it head on. That’s step one.

The Little Things That Help

Step two is to really attack the yeast in your system. For that, you can turn to things like oregano oil, which is a very powerful immune booster with anti-fungal and antibacterial properties. It’s potent stuff. What I do is put several drops into an empty veggie pill capsule, and take it with water.

If you’re taking oregano oil, you want to use it for no more than two weeks. Use it for two weeks, then take two weeks off before you cycle it back in.

Your third step is to add more probiotics into your diet, whether that’s fermented foods like sauerkraut, kimchi, or any other kind of fermented vegetable. That’s probably the best way to get your probiotics because they’re natural, and thus home to a lot of different, quality strains.

If it’s easier for you, you can also take a high-quality probiotic supplement. Whichever method you choose, probiotics will help to balance out and battle some of the bad bacteria and yeast in your body.

Finally, as a bonus, candida-fighting boost, you can also use coconut oil. It’s a very good source of caprylic acid, which can help reduce your blood pressure and help treat Crohn’s disease, in addition to really going to work on knocking candida out. You don’t need more than one tablespoon a day.

Kyle, I hope that helps you out. Following this course of treatment and a clean diet chock-full of vegetables, you should find yourself back to normal in a few weeks, maybe even a couple of days.
