You know what’s weird? I’m no beautician, and I certainly don’t use any beauty products, yet people often admire my complexion and ask me how to get clear skin.
Yes, really.
Truthfully, like many guys, I don’t think about my skin a lot. The difference is that I get such healthy-looking skin by nourishing it from the inside out, a side effect of nourishing my whole body from the inside out.
You should too.
With that in mind, what I want to do here is provide you with a simple 1-day “drink menu” that will give you glowing skin from within.
What’s great about these drink recipes is that they are tasty, yet powerful natural remedies that are remarkably easy to prepare and slip into your day, no matter how busy you might be.
In figuring out how to get clear skin, many people don’t take into account that the skin is the body’s largest organ. When you sweat, you expel toxins through your skin.
Conversely, because your skin is a semi-permeable membrane, it also absorbs much of what you put on your skin.
This means that whether you’re applying products to your skin or ingesting foods or beverages, you want to choose wisely. Ultimately, the results of your choices will eventually show on your skin.
That’s a crucial piece of information I hope you take to heart, but here’s an even bigger secret you should consider as you figure out how to get clear skin: so much of it is all about what’s going on in your liver.

A Quick Physiology Recap
Your liver is your body’s customs or border patrol. Any time you ingest anything, it must first get “approved” by your liver before it enters your body’s bloodstream. The good stays in and, ideally, the bad (think toxins, heavy metals, etc…) are shipped out for excretion. Let’s just keep it at that for now.
The problem though is that since your liver performs over 500 different functions—detoxification being the most prominent—it can become overworked and sluggish over time.
And, if your diet is not so great, then you’ll be clogging your liver with tons of junk which could end up leaving it looking like a polluted air filter.
In addition to all sorts of other problems that come about with a toxic liver—like hormone imbalance, poor blood sugar control, and more—your skin also suffers.
If your liver is not able to detoxify properly, toxins then build up in your body and create free radicals that in turn promote cell damage in your skin.
Some skin problems associated with a toxic liver include:
- adult acne or uneven skin tone
- psoriasis, eczema, or dermatitis
- rashes and skin sores
- wrinkles and sagging skin
- dark circles under the eyes
- brownish age spots and blemishes on the skin
- spider-like blood vessels visible in the skin
Any of these sound familiar?
If so, your liver needs help.
And I’ll show you how give your liver the help it needs with my 1-day drink menu in just a moment, but first, I’d like to tell you about one super powerful nutrient required to get clear skin.
How to Get Clear Skin: The #1 Secret Ingredient
Aside from the liver itself, there are obviously specific nutrients required to keep your skin young and smooth looking. And there’s none more important than vitamin C.
Vitamin C is critical for your body and plays an important role in maintaining healthy, resilient skin. While young skin is full of vitamin C, aging skin naturally loses this nutrient over time.
Other factors like exposure to UV light, pollutants and cigarette smoke compound the decline of vitamin C, contributing to signs of aging. The good news is that you can fight back by replenishing your skin’s vitamin C levels to help to combat and even reverse time’s effect on your face.
One of the most powerful functions of vitamin C is its role in the production of collagen, a protein that gives your skin its elasticity. As you age, collagen breaks down and wrinkles begin to form. Stabilizing your skin’s levels of vitamin C can help to counteract wrinkle formation by increasing collagen production.
Vitamin C also plays a vital role in your skin’s health by helping to reduce age spots. No more chemical peels or lasers needed!
Age spots are essentially sun damage, and vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, shown to reduce the number of sunburned cells as well as reverse age-related damage to skin. While vitamin C is certainly not a replacement for sunscreen, it does protect against and may even repair UV damage like discoloration and fine lines.
Are you getting enough vitamin C? Are you eating in a way that supports your liver?

To find out, just look in the mirror. If you’ve got lots of age spots, wrinkles, blotchy or just older-looking skin, then chances are your body needs some serious nutritional support. That’s where your mission to figure out how to get clear skin has to begin.
My 1-Day How to Get Clear Skin Drink Menu
Let’s begin, shall we?
As a general recommendation, it’s important to remember that you should be drinking at least half your bodyweight (in pounds) in water (in ounces) per day. So, if you weigh 160 pounds, then you’re aiming for 80 ounces (or nearly 3 liters) of water each day.
That may sound like a lot, but you’re in luck because this simple 1-day drink plan will help you out. And that’s important because healthy looking skin starts with great hydration.
Drink #1: Morning Rejuvenator
When you first get out of bed and have made your way to the kitchen, start by having 500 ml (2 cups) of water with 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar and/or the juice of half a lemon.
Water with apple cider vinegar and/or lemon does wonders for clearing toxins from your liver and gall bladder and helps to kickstart your digestive system to evacuate foodstuff that’s been sitting in there overnight.
Plus, lemon juice is a good source of vitamin C, with just one providing 51% of your daily recommended vitamin C intake.
Apple cider vinegar has been used as a healing tonic for centuries.
Drink #2: The Alkalizer
Next up, and ideally before you’ve had anything solid food to eat is when you want to make a fresh green juice. If you’re looking for the “magic bullet” to amazing skin and bulletproof health, then drinking more greens is it.
Green vegetables (and the juices they yield) provide the highest nutrient bang for your buck and offer tons of vital nutrients (including vitamin C) required by your liver for Phase 1 and 2 detoxification pathways.
For instance, kale is packed with glucosinolates like indole-3-carbinol, which are strongly correlated with a dramatic reduction in cancer risk. They are also a vital ingredient needed by your liver for proper detoxification. So, if you want healthier skin, enjoy your kale.
Here’s one of my favorite green juice recipes (makes 2 servings):
… 2 handfuls kale
… 4 stalks celery
… ¼ cucumber
… ½ handful parsley
… 1 lemon
… 1 apple
Run everything through a juicer and enjoy!
Now, if you’re pressed for time, don’t have a juicer, or are simply in a hurry, then you can also use my Energy Greens – which are the tastiest and fastest way to get your greens without shopping, chopping, juicing, or cleaning up. You can learn more about them here.
Drink #3: Suppertime Supple Skin Smoothie
By this point in the day, you may be looking for something more substantial. As you can tell, this drink menu is pretty light. So if you’re not eating any other food on this day (which is really up to you), then dinner time is smoothie time. And again, we’ll focus on getting lots of greens.
Why?
Because – again – greens are your liver’s best friend and because they’re loaded with vitamin C, both of which are crucial to beautiful skin, remember?
With that in mind, here’s one of my favorite green smoothies of all time:
Tangy Coco Spinach | serves 2
… 2 cups strawberries
… 1 banana
… 1 young coconut, water and meat
… 2 cups spinach
… 2 celery stalks
… 1-inch cube ginger, grated
… Juice of 1 lime
… 1 cup water
Blend everything in blender until smooth.
Drink #4: Liver Loving Tea
We’re going to finish off our 1-day drink menu for how to get clear skin with a nice warm cup of tea that your liver is going to love—milk thistle tea.
Why this particular tea?
I’m glad you asked. Milk thistle is well known for its liver regenerative properties. The medicinal compound in milk thistle is silymarin, which is an antioxidant that protects liver cells against damage.
This drink is quite simple. Just add a tea bag of milk thistle into a cup of almost boiling water, let steep for 2-3 minutes, then enjoy.
So there you have it: your 1-day drink menu for clearer, healthier-looking skin. Give it a shot today (or tomorrow) and tell me if you don’t look and feel better by the end of the day.
I hope this shows you that figuring out how to get clear skin doesn’t have to be difficult. Best of all, you can drink these four tasty tips for clear skin whenever you feel like it. Soon you won’t even think of them as skin-healing drinks at all.
